‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’Bill Simmons

Jokes about narrowing the murder investigation to the 20 parents of the murdered kids; doesn't give a distinct standalone pick beyond riffing on the bit

‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’Chris Ryan

Limited series pitch: an investigative true-crime style show exonerating Freddy Krueger, with Stephen A. Smith inserted as a character claiming to have a long personal history covering/interviewing Freddy ('Freddie Krueger is the one who's lying... I've interviewed Freddy Krueger his rookie year')

‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’Van Lathan

Riffs on the 'justice for Freddie' investigative angle, joking his wife Rachel dresses as Freddy every Halloween to scare him, doesn't commit to a formal separate pick

‘It Follows’Bill Simmons

Watched all eight episodes of the Carrie limited series in about 18 hours with Zoe and thought it was really good; pitches an It prequel where the tall guy is the original It (basketball in Romania near a nuclear reactor, pissed off a witch)

‘It Follows’Chris Ryan

No prestige-TV version of It Follows ('They Follows'): today's conversation shows they'd have to answer too many logistical questions

‘It Follows’Joanna Robinson

Liked the Carrie series' actual Carrie story (very Lillard-heavy) but not the framing coven lore it didn't need; co-pitches the It prequel with the tall guy as the original It

‘Friday the 13th’Bill Simmons

Notes the franchise has already done sequel, prequel, streamer, remake - the only thing untouchable/missing is an all-Black cast version; also jokes about a prequel with Linda Kozlowski-type character finding out about Pam's marriage

‘Friday the 13th’Chris Ryan

Says the upcoming prequel covers the intervening years, from before Jason's death up to Jason Voorhees becoming the killer

‘Friday the 13th’Van Lathan

Speculates little kid Jason might appear in the beginning of the prequel

‘The Texas Chain Saw Massacre’Bill Simmons

He's a fan of Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (1995, with Renee Zellweger and Matthew McConaughey)

‘The Texas Chain Saw Massacre’Chris Ryan

Runs through the franchise's follow-ups: loves Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (Tobe Hooper), notes The Next Generation was written but not directed by Kim Henkel, mentions the Jessica Biel reboot, enjoyed the Netflix 'influencers' sequel, and notes the Leatherface prequel and a rumored Trey Edward Shults/Glen Powell reboot now at Skydance — doesn't commit to one favorite besides praising Part 2

‘13 Going on 30’Bill Simmons

Remake - announced Netflix remake (March 2026) directed by Brett Haley starring Emily Bader and Logan Lerman, with Jennifer Garner and Judy Greer cameoing; gives it 30% chance of being good, 70% disappointing, 100% his wife/daughter will love it. Also jokes it should've been a streamer YA series exploring her senior year and the aftermath of the switch.
